Skills & Techniques

I am qualified Nutritionist and Hatha Yoga Teacher.   Never one to hang up the studying hat, I am continually studying to learn more about the wonderful worlds of yoga and nutrition.  Latest areas of study and interest include;

  • Yoga Therapy: using the tools of yoga for self-healing by reconnecting the mind and body and helping people access the natural healing powers of the body
  • Kids Yoga Therapy: using the meridian system and yoga poses to treat many conditions including ADHD, asthma, diabetes, weight and body image (dysmorphia) issues as well as stress and anxiety (sadly, what child these days doesn’t experience stress!)
  • Reiki: an ancient Japanese energy healing system involving the use of personal energy fields
  • Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT): sometimes called ‘tapping’, this is an ancient technique that activates the meridians (energy systems) in the body to release suppressed emotions and deal with long term beliefs that may be holding individuals back from realising their true potential

Formal qualifications;

  • Diploma of Nutrition (Australasian College of Natural Therapies)
  • Bachelor of Health Science (Complementary Medicine) (Charles Sturt University)
  • Diploma of Hatha Yoga (Qi Health & Yoga)
  • Certificate of Yoga Therapy (Adore Yoga / Yoga Institute)

Professional memberships:

  • ANTA: Australian Natural Therapists Association

Values

  • Nature knows best - 'Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food' (Hippocrates)
  • Mindfulness - being present with life as it unfolds
  • Respect &  integrity - for self, others and our shared planet
  • Human connection & community - we as humans have a basic need to feel connected and to be part of a tribe
  • Passion for positive change - We all have our reasons for getting up in the morning and doing what we do, and for me it’s a knowledge that I am helping people to improve their health and wellbeing
