Laws of attraction: why you need to be mindful
Ever heard of the saying ‘Your vibe attracts your tribe?’
Ever found yourself in a rut and unable to re-emerge to the surface?
Find yourself telling yourself that you deserve no better?
Unwittingly you are causing the spiralling of negativity and driving yourself further into the hole.
Why?
Because of the strength of the powers of the Universe, and now more commonly known as the Laws of Attraction (LOA).
We all do it. Our mind, when unharnessed and allowed to roam freely can take us in directions that is opposing to where we really want to head. Our self-talk is self-perpetuating our situation and those patterns of thinking, the more we think about them, get deeper and deeper and deeper until eventually we have set up home in our little rut and find ourselves unable to find the key to open the door and let ourselves out.
We’ve all heard of the term Mindfulness. It’s the latest buzz word, but what is it really and how does it help us form the lives that we want?
Mindfulness, despite the implication of the word, actually strives towards a ‘less full’ mind. We think an average of 60,000 thoughts a day, and most of these are unconscious thoughts, meaning they are there in the background quite often without us being aware of them.
Left to their own devices, our thoughts can head us down all sorts of different paths, many of them unhelpful, unkind and at worst, quite destructive.
Ever heard of monkey mind? Well that’s you when you let your mind wander freely and unrestrained. The real problem is when we actually believe what these thoughts are telling us! One of the most profound learnings in life is to realise that we are actually not our thoughts, that we are something far more wise, centred and kind-hearted than our minds would let us believe.
Creating the lives that we want all begins with Mindfulness.
Starting to become aware of our thoughts, the patterns, the beliefs, then choosing to disengage and observe, without judgement, as these thoughts come and go. Like a child that pushes your buttons relentlessly, if you don’t react they will eventually get bored and find something else to do. This takes practice of course, daily practice, but over time it becomes easier to watch the thoughts as though you were watching a movie on a screen or listening to the radio, turning down the volume and even walking away.

Once we are more conscious of our thoughts we can start to direct them a little more, and use the powers of our mind to actually create the life that we want.
This is where the LOA come into play.
We are all made up of energy and there is a general understanding in the spiritual and scientific world that ‘like attracts like’. Put simply, what you think you attract.
A negative ‘wo is me’ attitude will continue to manifest bad luck because the Universe only picks up on key words.
If you are struggling to reach your goals then it’s time to start noticing your thought patterns and beliefs. For example, having the thought that ‘I’m crap at being healthy’ will continue to deliver ‘crap’ (sometimes literally!)
Having the thought ‘I value myself and deserve to be healthier for my efforts’ will attract the health that you so deserve.
The reason?
The Universe doesn’t pick up on every single word, it only hears ‘I’m crap….’ and so it delivers!
Hence the self-perpetuating cycle.
The next key point is you have to believe in your chosen path and don’t doubt yourself or the decisions you make. Accept that your mind will constantly play Radio Doom & Gloom in the background. Once you start tuning in to the voice, this is where things start going pear shaped again. Notice the thought and turn down the volume, over and over again. Reiterate to yourself that you are on the right path, that you have made the right decisions for yourself / for your family and reinforce the positive thoughts.
Ask the Universe to help you achieve your goals, desires and ambitions. Believe in your heart that the Universe will deliver – in fact, assume that the Universe has already delivered and allow yourself to feel the joy! (This is another useful tool to not only get ourselves ‘out of our heads’ but the moment we start believing that our deepest desires can come true is the moment that they really do start coming true).
Lastly, allow yourself to receive.
Don’t worry about how the gift will be delivered, just be receptive to the messages that the Universe sends and the guides that are helping you towards your chosen destination.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly receive with gratitude so that the Universe will want to continue helping you along your journey. Be sure about what you want and when you do decide don’t doubt yourself.
Remember the basic rules of LOA.
Ask.
Believe.
Receive.
Remember, ‘positive thoughts create a positive me!’ Try using this as a daily mantra and watch what happens!
