
We are what we Eat, Breathe & Apply to our skin
Sometimes we need a little reminder that what we’re doing is making a positive impact on our health.
I recently had one such reminder..
For the past 10 years I’ve been seeing the same remedial massage therapist. To give you some indication how deep-tissue this little Japanese lady can go, the very first time I saw her she applied a numbing cream to my back! Afterwards I felt as though I’d done two Bikram yoga sessions back to back… and despite the implied innuendo that I would suffer intense pain on the table next time I was absolutely hooked.
Apart from being incredibly strong, my therapist is highly connected energetically & spiritually – she can read auras and will experience burning sensations where trauma is buried deep within our bodies. Every time I see her I get something out of the session well beyond a physical release.
In a recent session as she started massaging my body she said to me in her broken English: ‘What you doing differently? This body feel different. Better. I can feel lots of yoga, but something else as well. Your muscles… so healthy… so oxygenated…so energised…so YOUNG!’
She then went onto to tell me exactly the foods I’d been eating: ‘You eat lots of fresh vegetables, green, raw foods. Lots of fibre. Not much meat, and no toxins. Your body healthiest ever seen. Keep it up!’
I walked out again feeling amazing, but also a little baffled. My diet has always been good. My husband and I have been shopping regularly at the local organic markets for many years, and I’ve never been a big meat eater…
After the delicious drowsiness of the massage evaporated it suddenly clicked – 12 months ago I launched my own range of organic superfood blends because I wanted to give my clients better access to healthy foods. These high vibrational superfood blends have of course become a daily staple of my own diet and my body is clearly thanking me for it.
For me it served as a reminder that we truly are what we eat, breathe and apply to our skin. We’ve all heard the term ‘you are what you eat’ but most people don’t consider their exposure to harmful airborne chemicals or what they apply to their skin. What you apply topically is in fact far MORE important than what you ingest as it enters the blood stream within 26 seconds without any filtering from the liver.
So I encourage you to take a closer look at the products in your laundry and bathroom cabinets. Are there a long list of unpronounceable ingredients or a string of numbers with no explanation? If you can afford it, throw these out and start again. Your body will sing with thanks, I can promise you that!
